WHEN Urenui woman Char Martin read about the people of Samoa needing shoes, she knew her calling had come.

Mrs Martin had bought more than 100 pairs of sandals off Trade Me earlier in the year with the intention of selling them on for a small profit.

The buy was not an unusual one for the local entrepreneur, who started buying children's clothing in bulk last year when she realised it was a good way to provide quality clothing at Fake Parmigiani Watches a low price for friends and family.

However, all thoughts of making a penny went out the window when Mrs Martin read about the Samoa tsunami victims and their bare feet.

"I thought I've got a whole lot of shoes sitting there doing nothing - it would give me as much pleasure to give them some help as it would to make some money.

"They need them more than I do."

A Lange & Sohne Replica Watches So with the help of her three- year-old grandson Jack, Mrs Martin took the sandals down to the Samoan church at Fitzroy to be added to the container-load of aid going from Taranaki.

"I know they said they wanted closed-toes shoes but I looked at what they were wearing on the news and thought these would be better than nothing," Mrs Martin said.

Her donation was added to the piles of sheets, clothing, bottled water and other items being packaged and readied for shipping by volunteers at the church yesterday.

Drivers from engineering company Tenix Robt Stone had already taken three truckloads of goods down to the container and were expecting to take more throughout the week.

The container needs to be in Auckland by October 24 to be shipped across to Samoa.
